About Chris & Emma

Chris and Emma were both into radio from an early age – Emma used to interview Margaret Thatcher in her bedroom (voiced by herself), aged 8 and Chris spoke to the Women’s Institute about their tasty spreads on his first radio show, aged 16. After heady early success on the airwaves they both took a break from the spotlight of fame – Emma became a thespian whilst Chris became a lesbian (is that the right way round?).

They first met during the steamy summer of 2006 when they presented a show together on the very first Gaydio broadcast. There was some serious chemistry from day one and before too long they were thrust together for some more permanent one-one-one action – co-hosting a long-running weekend show for the BBC.

As radio husband and wife rumours have been circulating about the closeness of their relationship for years (several super injunctions are in place). One person did think they were ACTUALLY married but in fact they have only slept together once. It was a hazy night at Brighton Pride 2013 - Emma complained that Chris was breathing heavily throughout the night, Chris doesn’t remember a thing other than the twin beds were very comfy.

They’ve co-presented ‘Chris and Emma at Breakfast’ for Gaydio since January 2013. Emma is particularly proud of the moment when Jane McDonald told her to ‘take her fist out’. Chris still can’t believe that he took Sinitta up The Shard. Other interview highlights include:

Boy George, Calvin Harris, Nicole Scherzinger, Sir Ian McKellan, The Saturdays, Example, Little Mix, Lea DeLaria, Tori Amos, Paloma Faith, The Freemasons, Paul Oakenfold, Chicane, Lady Bunny, Katy B, Gareth Thomas, Michelle Visage, Heather Peace, MNEK, Ella Henderson, Jessie Ware, Ella Eyre, Foxes, McBusted, Holly Johnson, Andy Bell and not forgetting Su Pollard.

They have travelled the world entertaining gays from Vienna, Brussels and Tel Aviv and have presented on stage at various Pride festivals and award ceremonies. In 2014 they hosted the main Trafalgar Square stage for Pride in London. Chris and Emma feel super lucky and totally privileged to be waking you up on the world’s biggest gay radio station.
