The Power of Love

Community snapshot:
As a point in history, LGBT heritage may be going through a golden age. In the last few decades we have seen how laws and, more importantly, public attitudes have changed for the better towards our community. Armed with several digital recorders, a team of Gaydio volunteers travelled to Liverpool in April and interviewed over 20 members of the LGBT community. From teenagers who had recently experienced their first pride to men and women in their 70’s who fought for homosexuality to be legalised, we discovered a city of proud individuals - proud of their sexuality and proud of the city they lived in.
"The Power of Love" was first broadcast on 2nd September 2013, but for the first time we are presenting the full story. This is an oral history of Liverpool's LGBT heritage through the eye's of the people who experienced it. Gaydio, with funding from the Heritage Lottery Fund, interviewed a diverse mix of people to produce a vitally important resource that documents the growth of an exciting and vibrant LGBT community.
This is site will provide a lasting legacy so future generations can listen back to the stories of their LGBT past.
