In her own words: Kitty Scott-Claus on becoming Diana

“There were three of us in this marriage,” Princess Diana once famously said. Now, there are five.
The Diana Mixtape reimagines the life of the People’s Princess as a bold, high-energy pop concert — with five drag superstars stepping into Diana’s heels to pay tribute in the most fabulously theatrical way possible.
Debuting at London’s HERE at Outernet on July 28, 2025, the show has since toured multiple UK venues, drawing viral attention and rave reviews.
Among the cast is Drag Race UK favourite Kitty Scott-Claus, one of the queens bringing Diana’s story to life with glamour, humour, and a killer soundtrack.
She sat down with Gaydio’s Brett Harris and Bally Singh to share her experience of bringing the iconic figure to life:
“we're just having the most fun. Honestly, I've not had a job where I've laughed so much start to finish. Like every day I go into the theater and I'm just like, ‘I don't know what's gonna happen.’”
She is joined onstage by Courtney Act, Divina De Campo, Rosé, Priyanka, and Keala Settle as Queen Elizabeth.

In only a few months, the cast have built an unbreakable bond:
“I think the bond we have as like a five is, so special and it's like one of the things that coming away from this job I'm like oh my god that was such like an amazing time. I feel like oh my my new international sisters you know like so so fab but honestly we're having the best time.”
Kitty is no stranger to portraying the People's Princess — she first stepped into Diana’s heels in the Snatch Game of Drag Race UK Season 3.
She joked that her Snatch Game performance was “basically” an audition:
“I won Snatch Game playing Princess Diana. It feels like a natural progression. I don't think anyone in like the history of Drag Race has done this where they played their character in Snatch Game and then goes on to play them like in an actual... Made some coin on the back of it. Right?”
Since its debut, The Diana Mixtape has rapidly gone viral across social media, surprising even the cast with its overwhelming response.
Kitty admits,
“A few days after opening night, I was scrolling through my TikTok For You page, and it was nothing but The Diana Mixtape. I thought, ‘This is incredible. It’s funny, it’s major, and people genuinely love it.’”
She believes part of the show's wide appeal lies in its eclectic soundtrack:
“Honestly, there’s something for everyone. The music is so varied — it’s a real mixtape. If you don’t know one song, you’ll definitely know the next one. And not just know it, you’ll love it.”
One moment drawing particular attention online is the show’s BRAT-inspired opening — featuring a bold orange curtain emblazoned with the logo:
“Can I just say — we had no idea it looked like that until we saw it on people’s Instagram Stories and TikToks,” Kitty laughs. “The show opens with this big orange BRAT-style curtain, and then there’s this moment like, ‘I’d like to be the queen… the queen of people’s hearts.’”
“During the first few shows I remember thinking, ‘I’m not really sure how this looks from the outside.’ But seeing it on social media? I was like, this is amazing. It’s the coolest thing ever — what an entrance!”
While the show is blowing up online, things backstage are just as entertaining — and occasionally chaotic.
Asked about co-star Keala Settle, best known for This Is Me, Kitty joked:
“She’s never sung it backstage — we need to make her do it! Imagine if she swapped her number for This Is Me at the last show? Chaos.”
Kitty also gave us a glimpse into the cast’s unexpected pre-show ritual — all sparked by a Carrie Underwood classic.
“What is the song? Before He Cheats,” she says. “And Davina's on stage before this, and we’re wearing like swimsuits with beach cover-ups. So we have these leopard print swimsuits with white shirts.”
What started as a small detail soon became a backstage tradition.
“Davina would always button hers up, and we’d always come on with ours undone. So this one show I was like, right, everyone let’s all do them up. From that, it’s been like the floodgates have opened. Every single show, we come backstage like, ‘Right, how are we gonna wear our shirts this show?’”
“I think the last show in London, we put them inside the swimming costume — so the swimsuits went over the shirts.”
When asked how many ways a shirt can be worn, Kitty quipped:
“The limit does not exist. Find out at The Diana Mixtape. You're gonna get people coming to every single show just to see that now.”
“But then we come on stage and we're there trying so hard not to laugh. But the thing is, because we're all playing Diana, you can just resort back to the blank royal face. Works every time.”
The Diana Mixtape will be coming to The Lowry in Salford from the 19th to the 21st of August.
