Two more police officers dismissed over Charing Cross conduct

Two more police officers have been dismissed from the Metropolitan Police over inappropriate conduct.

PC Mason O'Connor, attached to Central West Command Unit, was the subject of a hearing on Tuesday over alleged comments made to a female colleague in October 2024, while off-duty in a pub.

The hearing found the allegation proven and that PC O'Conner breached standards of professional behaviour for authority, respect and courtesy, equality and diversity, and discreditable conduct.

The probe was linked to BBC Panorama's Undercover in the Police, a documentary presenting film and audio compiled by an undercover reporter who got a job as a civilian worker in the station's custody suite.

A second officer - PC Lloyd Hunter, attached to Central West Command Unit - was dismissed after allegations he made comments which "trivialised" the use of force while having an off-duty drink in November 2024. Allegations were proven at a hearing in August.

The Met said on Tuesday that with the latest dismissals, the number of serving officers who have lost their jobs since an investigation was launched is now 13.

PC Hunter was found to have breached standards of professional behaviour for authority, respect and courtesy, equality and diversity, and discreditable conduct.

PC Hunter's comments were caught on camera by the BBC. Although not featured in the broadcast, extra unaired footage was later shared with the IOPC, whose investigation into the behaviour of a number of officers at Charing Cross continues.

Commander Simon Messinger, from the Met's professionalism department, said: "Two more officers have now been dismissed for their appalling comments and attitudes.

"I hope this sends a very clear message about the standards we expect from all our officers and the Met's determination to improve our culture across the organisation.

"We continue to support the ongoing IOPC investigation."
