Boy, 16, charged with murdering teenager in Luton park

A 16-year-old boy has been charged with murdering a teenager who died from multiple stab wounds after "disorder" at a park in Luton.

Four other teenagers have been arrested on suspicion of the same murder.

Bedfordshire Police said officers were called to Kingsway Recreation Ground shortly after 6.30pm on Friday following reports that "a number of teenagers" were seen "carrying large knives".

The 17-year-old boy, who has not yet been identified, was rushed to hospital but died a short time later.

On Saturday, police said two boys, aged 16 and 17, had been arrested on suspicion of murder after they were initially arrested on suspicion of violent disorder.

The younger male has since been charged with murder and has been remanded in custody, according to the force.

Another three 17-year-old boys have also been arrested, each on suspicion of murder, violent disorder and carrying a weapon, it added in its statement on Sunday night.
