Alison Goldfrapp on new album Flux

Alison Goldfrapp, the former lead vocalist of the acclaimed electronic duo Goldfrapp, has returned with Flux, her second solo album and the first released under her own independent label.
Spanning 10 tracks, Flux was released on August 15th via her newly launched imprint, A.G. Records, in partnership with Absolute Label Services. The project marks a bold new chapter in Goldfrapp’s artistic journey—one shaped by creative freedom and self-determination.

“It's sort of terrifying and wonderful simultaneously,” she said, reflecting on the uncertainty of releasing her first album through her own label.
“It’s more than a labour of love. I mean, I love it. I love writing music.”

One of the standout tracks on Flux is Reverberotic, which Alison has singled out as a personal favourite.
“I suppose it's like a sort of metaphor for sound being an elixir and somebody wanting to have that. I’m very into machines, robots and the sort of nature versus being human. It has all those kind of themes to it.
I think when you're very sort of immersed in something, it's hard to kind of explain it, then, you know, put that into words. I think it sometimes it takes a while to kind of process it yourself.”

So far, Flux has received a mixed reaction from fans with some criticising it’s lower energy, whilst others have hailed it as a ‘natural progression’ of the artist’s work.

Earlier this year, Goldfrapp joined Scissor Sisters as the special guest opening act on their 2025 UK and Ireland reunion tour—an experience she clearly cherished.
“It was really nice. yeah, I mean, they're such great guys as well. Just a lovely bunch of people. So that made it really good. And then I really enjoyed playing those venues.”

With the album now out, she’s keen to get back on stage and bring Flux to a live audience. But while the enthusiasm is there, the logistics of touring remain a challenge.
“It really depends on how much what demand there is and finances. Boring things in life. But it's not boring. It's It's boring to some people but it's really important information.
People like Kate Nash have spoken about things always just come down to bloody money. And especially now, I feel like it's very hard to make touring work since Brexit and COVID. And it just makes things very expensive.”

Flux represents a fearless step forward for Alison Goldfrapp—both musically and professionally. While the path may be uncertain, her passion and vision remain unmistakable.
