A man in his 80s has died following a fire that ripped through a house in London.
The whole of the first floor and half of the roof of a two-storey terraced house in Granville Road, Wood Green, north London, was destroyed in the fire on Saturday night.
Firefighters were called out at 10.15pm and brought the blaze under control by 11.30pm.
The London Fire Brigade (LFB) said that a woman managed to escape and fled the house before the brigade arrived, but a man died at the scene.
The cause of the blaze is being investigated by the Metropolitan Police and the LFB.
A police spokesman said: "Officers attended to support the London Fire Brigade and London Ambulance Service.
"Sadly, a man in his 80s died at the scene.
"His next of kin have been informed and continue to be supported.
"Specialist Met officers are currently supporting the London Fire Brigade to investigate the circumstances around the fire."
