Wakefield Pride (Saturday)

Wakefield Pride takes place across the weekend of Saturday 8 and Sunday 9 August 2026, the West Yorkshire city's annual LGBTQ+ celebration. Wakefield Pride started life as Pride not Prejudice in 2005, originating from a request from the Fruitbowl LGBTQ+ youth group. The committee was formed at the MESMAC offices in January 2005 in collaboration with Wakefield Council, the Primary Care Trusts, West Yorkshire Police, the owners of two local gay venues VOX, the Men's Sexual Health Project (MESMAC) and members of the local gay community.

The parade traditionally moves through Wakefield city centre to the festival site, with stages, community stalls, family programming and food and drink across the weekend. The 2026 line-up has not yet been confirmed by the organisers. Wakefield's small but loyal queer scene comes out across the weekend, with venues across the city centre running their own Pride programming around the festival.
