Robbie Williams sings with fans outside hotel after show cancelled in Peru

Robbie Williams was captured on video giving an impromptu performance outside his hotel in Peru after saying he was "broken-hearted" his concert was cancelled.

Williams can be seen emerging from the Belmond Hotel in Peru's capital of Lima and walking towards the crowd of fans outside.

The singer said he was "broken-hearted" the show, due to take place on Thursday, did not go ahead.

The concert was cancelled as the venue where it was due to take place, Arena 1 Park, was ordered to close by the Municipality of San Miguel, according to a statement by One Entertainment.

Authorities said the venue was temporarily closed over insufficient "evacuation protocols" in place for fans leaving the area.

Williams told fans outside his hotel the concert's cancellation was "beyond our control", adding it had "nothing to do with us".

He then said: "We will be back as soon as we can be back, God bless you and if you wouldn't mind, I'd like to do a little show here."

Williams then starts singing along with fans to one of his most famous songs, Angels.

He can be seen wearing the T-shirt of Peru's national football team as he says goodbye.

Fan Evelyn Calixto reacted by saying: "I'm happy, but also there's bitterness because they have shut down [the concert venue] and today was the date for the fans who have waited for years to be able to see him, but at least since he is a great artist he came out to delight his public, at least with a little piece of everything his concert was going to be."

One Entertainment said a new date for the cancelled concert, which is part of Williams' Latin America tour, was being arranged at a different venue.

"We thank the artist and his team for their good disposition, with whom we have been coordinating the rescheduling of the concert at a new venue that guarantees its realisation," the statement said.

Those who would rather apply for a refund can do so on Ticketmaster, One Entertainment added.
