The legendary Chaka Khan joined Dave Cooper on Gaydio Breakfast for a brilliant chat covering everything from her new music to one of the internet's favourite pop culture memes.

Chaka spoke about her upcoming album Chakzilla, which is set for release on September 18, 2026, including her collaboration with Snoop Dogg on the track Boogie's In My Soul. She also looked back on some of the classic songs that have made her a global icon, as well as the new I'm Every Woman musical celebrating her life and music, starring Alexandra Burke as Chaka at London's Troubadour Wembley Park Theatre from July 22 to September 27.

And, of course, Dave couldn't let Chaka Khan leave without asking about the iconic "Chaka Khan" answer that has become a fixture of queer pop culture. The running joke dates back to RuPaul's appearance on The Weakest Link, when "Chaka Khan" became his famously random answer, and the moment has continued to live on through references from the likes of PinkPantheress, RuPaul and Tia Kofi.

Chaka also spoke about her longstanding support for the LGBTQ+ community, and why that connection remains so important to her.
