Bimini Criticises GB News Pride Comments as "Targeted"

Bimini has said comparisons made on GB News about Pride and the LGBTQ+ community feel “targeted”, after appearing on Gaydio Breakfast with Dave Cooper.

Bimini has criticised comments made on GB News linking Pride with “minor attracted” people, saying the remarks were “not based on any evidence” and felt “targeted”.

Speaking on Gaydio Breakfast with Dave Cooper, Bimini said they were “furious” after hearing comments made by Caroline Farrow during Alex Armstrong’s 9pm show.

Farrow had been asked whether Pride was suitable for families. In her response, she claimed Pride had become about celebrating “every single sexuality that isn’t heterosexuality”, including what she described as “very bizarre and unhealthy kinks and quirks” including paedophelia who she referred to as “minor attracted”, before saying she did not think Pride was suitable for children.

Bimini said her comments echoed harmful historic tropes used against LGBTQ+ people.

“They’re using Pride as a tool to create more animosity and more anger towards the community,” they said.

Bimini added that this kind of language can have a real-life impact, particularly on young LGBTQ+ people who may not yet be out.

“If you’re young and you’re hearing stuff like that, and you’re not out, it’s going to make you not want to come out,” they said.

The comments come after previous GB News segments have attracted criticism over remarks about LGBTQ+ people.

In January 2025, Ofcom received more than 71,000 complaints after presenter Josh Howie made comments on air linking LGBTQ+ inclusion with paedophiles.

Asked whether broadcasters have a responsibility for what guests say on air, Bimini said: “Maybe it’s not the views of the network. If it happened once, that was the views of that person.

“But it kind of feels like they know what they’re doing.”

When asked whether it felt more intentional, Bimini replied: “It feels a bit targeted.”

Bimini has launched an online tool to help people complain to Ofcom, saying it had already generated 10,000 complaint emails.

They urged people who do not understand Pride to experience it for themselves before judging it.

“Come to Pride,” they said. “Don’t judge just from what you’ve heard.”

They added: “We do need Pride, now more than ever. Pride was always a protest.”

In a statement made to Gaydio a GB News spokesman said: “These comments were expressed within a live debate by a contributor. They were her own views, and do not reflect the views or editorial position of GB News. Anyone watching the debate would have noted the comments were robustly and repeatedly challenged by two other contributors. GB News takes its responsibilities as a regulated broadcaster seriously and complies is committed to complying with all of its obligations under the Ofcom Broadcasting Code."
