Raya talks pride and playing the main stage
Fabulous singer/songwriter Raya will be taking to the stage for this years Northern Pride. She's taken some time out to give us the low down on her involvement and some other juicy gossip to boot.
So Raya, why did you choose to take part in Northern Pride?
Pride is a cause very close to my heart and I have always wanted to experience the Geordie love after hearing so many good things about it.
Will you be attending with your family or partner?
My 2 best friends and my partner will be with me every step of the way
Now you must have many musicians that have inspired you, but which is your favourite music video of all time?
Smooth criminal Michael Jackson I remember seeing that as a little girl and it blew my mind.
And keeping on the subject of music, which LGBT artist would you most like to duet with?
Jessie J is killing it at the moment and Pink is an absolute icon.
Have you ever been clubbing in Newcastle? If so which is your favourite club?
No, and I'm very much looking forward to doing so at the Pride weekend.
So until you experience the delights of the Newcastle night-life, which is your current favourite city to go on a bar crawl?
Edinburgh has to be up there as does Glasgow.
Which is your favourite restaurant and it can be anywhere in the world?
I have great memories of the MGM Grand buffet breakfast in Las Vegas. Ice cream for breakfast, the best hangover cure!
What’s the gayest thing you’ve ever done?
Can I say my ex girlfriend?!
It's absolutely fabulous to have you performing at this years Northern Pride, but are you involved in any other LGBT projects?
I will be performing at Herts Pride and have worked closely with Pink Punters in Milton Keynes in the past
Thanks for your talking to us today Raya, but before we go, one last question. What one thing would you change about your life?
To have more time. If I was prime minister I would definitely bring in a 3 day weekend law!
Don't forget to catch Raya on the Main Stage along with the likes of Toyah & Steptastic from 1pm on Saturday 20th of July.
