CHRISTMAS IN THE CAPITAL: Getting About with Transport for London
It's a busy time of year and with a higher volume of traffic on London's public transport network, it's important to plan your travel.
As part of Gaydio's comprehensive guide to Christmas in the Capital, we have teamed up with Transport for London to provide you with some tips and tricks for navigating your way through a festive trip to London.
Plan Ahead
Plan your route and always double check before you travel using the TFL Status tool, where you can see the level of service on each rail service across London.
Throughout the festive period, demand for public transport will be a lot higher, try to avoid rush hour or peak periods and use these services at off peak times.
Think Outside the Box
Julie Dixon, head of Customer Information and Partnerships for TFL, advised Gaydio to "think outside the box" when it comes to planning a London adventure throughout the festive period.
There so much London outside of the central zones - why not experience the delights of Epping Forest, accessible on the Central Line, just hop off at Theydon Bois (Zone 6)!
TFL Go
Use live maps to see your route or search any place or address across London, the TFL Go app is a must-have for getting across the Capital this Christmas.
Get live bus, train and tram times and the quieter times to travel with live updates on all services as well as walking and cycling routes for all parts of your journey.

Gaydio's Brett Harris and Lee Barnes caught up with TFL's Head of Customer Information + Partnerships, Julie Dixon, to understand how best to navigate the hustle and bustle of the Capital this time of year as well as her suggestions for places to go this year...
