Nigel's guest today is David Archuleta. Singer David rose to national fame in 2008 as the runner-up on American Idol when he was just seventeen, captivating millions with his angelic voice. Behind the scenes, however, he was struggling with a truth he feared would destroy everything: he was attracted to men. David was also a devout member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day-Saints. The two things clashed brutally leading to shame, worthlessness and wanting to take his own life. Now a beautifully open queer man, his book Devout – Losing My Faith To Find Myself details the journey he has had to take to juggle his faith, fame and identity. It is a phenomenal and powerful read.
