Be at the world premiere

Northern Ballet is known for telling powerful, unexpected stories through breathtaking dance, and Gentleman Jack is no exception.

See a bold new ballet inspired by the extraordinary true story of Anne Lister. Often called the “first modern lesbian”, Anne was a fearless Yorkshire woman who lived, dressed and loved as she chose, defying society’s expectations. Her secret coded diaries, discovered after her death, revealed a life full of romance, ambition and rebellion.

Choreographed by acclaimed artist Annabelle Lopez Ochoa and performed to brand-new live music, Gentleman Jack is a modern and stylish portrait of Anne’s world. This brand-new production will have its world premiere in Leeds, meaning opening night audiences will be the very first to experience it.

Whether you’re planning a cultural city break or looking for an unforgettable evening closer to home, Northern Ballet’s Gentleman Jack promises to deliver a thrilling evening wherever it goes.

The ballet tours in 2026, visiting Leeds, Sheffield, Nottingham, London, Norwich, Salford and Bradford.

You’ll be there for opening night at the iconic Leeds Grand Theatre, right in the heart of the action.
