Former Liverpool and Bournemouth winger Jordon Ibe will appear in court next month, charged with actual bodily harm.
The Metropolitan Police said the 30-year-old was arrested at London Luton Airport last month in connection with an alleged assault on Sunday 14 December last year.
Ibe, of Chislehurst, Southeast London, was arrested at the airport and taken into custody on 30 January.
He has been released on bail and will appear at Croydon Magistrates' Court on 6 March.
Ibe joined Liverpool in 2012 and made 58 appearances for the side, before loan stints at Derby County and Birmingham City - and eventually joining AFC Bournemouth.

He now plays for Lokomotiv Sofia in the Bulgarian First League, the top division in the Balkan country.
Ibe had been playing non-league football in the UK prior to securing the move to the Bulgarian capital in November last year.
