Prince Harry says it's 'great' to be back in the UK and he returned for 'lots of reasons'

Prince Harry says the decision to return his family to the UK was made for "lots of reasons" and it is "great" to be back in the country.

The Duke of Sussex, who returned to the UK a month ago after living in the US for six years, said his children Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet are "happy in school".

The children moved schools shortly after they returned to the country when issues were raised by their security team about the journey there and back.

Speaking to Canadian network CTV on his return, he said: "It's been great. It's been great to be back on British soil.

Asked what prompted his family's relocation, Harry replied "lots of reasons" but did not elaborate.

The Sussexes stepped down as working royals in 2020, announcing they intended to become financially independent and split their time between the UK and North America.

Last month, they made the shock announcement that they would return to live in a non-royal residence outside London, with their children starting at a British school this month.

The King was said to have been made aware of their plans before the announcement and welcomed the opportunity to see more of the family in a private and personal capacity.

However, it is understood there would be no change to the Duke and Duchess's status as non-working members of the Royal Family.

A letter, authorised by the King, was circulated by the Lord Chamberlain to the government and military two weeks after their return, reiterating that the couple were "private citizens" and setting out guidance on how they should be treated.

Harry and Meghan were understood to be "surprised" by the letter as they await a decision on taxpayer-funded security from the Home Office Executive Committee for the Protection of Royalty and Public Figures.

Harry, who is preparing to stage his Invictus Games for military veterans, was speaking to Canadian network CTV after completing a skydive outside Toronto to honour a promise made to a 102-year-old Second World War veteran while raising awareness and support for military charities.
