Gaydio Breakfast Newsreader (Volunteer)

Gaydio - The UK's LGBTQ+ Radio station is looking for some new newsreaders for our breakfast show.

This opportunity is perfect for someone looking to gain real life experience on a national radio station and develop existing skills in compiling and reading news and weather bulletins for the Gaydio Breakfast show.

But don't just take our word for it, nearly all of our previous newsreaders who have built up their experience and portfolio with us have all gone on directly from Gaydio to work for other leading broadcasters in the industry - Capital, BBC (R1, R2, 5 LIVE, 6music), Greatest Hits, Heart, Bauer and the BBC, and in TV including Sky News, CNN and GB news.

This is a great opportunity to get some real life experience in a national radio station. We'll provide you with regular feedback, training, and even some fun non-news opportunities.

Ideally you'll be in your 3rd year at Uni or further, and have already have completed legal training / or be fully aware of the OFCOM code and legal rules surrounding news reporting. You'll be available about twice a month (or more) when our breakfast show is on air - So from 7am 'till 10am. As part of your "shift" you'll produce 6 breakfast new bulletins, weather bulletins, and the LGBTQ+ headlines for the day - so knowledge of what is interest to the LGBTQ+ community is a must.

This opportunity is based in Manchester City Centre but can be done remotely.  You'd want to do at least a couple of shifts a month to get the benefit and experience you're after.

To take the first step and get the ball rolling on your broadcasting career, fill in the form below and send us a demo! If you don't have kit at home, feel free to just record it using your phone / on board microphone - we care about what you sound like, not the quality of the recording.

You can download a sample script to use here

I understand this role is a voluntary role and I will not be paid, and whilst Gaydio will provide training and feedback paid work is not a guaranty as a result of my time volunteering.
