From Frankie Taber's tear-jerking bisexual coming out this week to Nadia Almada's historic 2004 win, we're celebrating the most iconic LGBTQ+ moments from the Big Brother house.

Big Brother truly does have a gay agenda! Following Big Brother UK 2026 contestant Frankie Taber coming out as bisexual in an emotional Diary Room scene on Tuesday night (15 September), we decided to take a trip down memory lane and look back at some of the queerest moments in BBUK across the years.

1. Nadia Almada becoming the first transgender winner

Nadia Almada made history in 2004 when she won the fifth series of Big Brother UK, securing 74% of the public vote, to become the first transgender winner of Big Brother. A fiery housemate, Nadia became adored across the nation for her vibrant personality, glamorous style, and outspoken nature.

It was this adoration which led to her landslide win after spending 71 days in the house. Following her win, Nadia went on to carve out a diverse career in entertainment and later transitioned into hairdressing. Looking back, many agree that her landmark win served as a vital early introduction to transgender visibility for a massive mainstream television audience.

2. Cameron Cole comes out as gay

Cameron Cole won the hearts of viewers across the nation following his coming out as gay to fellow housemates in the 2018 series of Big Brother UK. Eventually Cameron sat down with the housemates and explained that there was something important he'd been hiding.

He said he'd naively thought he could keep it hidden while in the house, but because he'd formed such strong connections with everyone, he wanted to be honest with them himself rather than have them find out through the outside world.

3. Zelah talking about gender dysphoria as a trans man

Zelah Glasson entered the Big Brother house on 28 September 2025, making history as the first trans man since the reality TV show's 2023 ITV reboot. The 25-year-old personal trainer from South London was an early favourite, both for his cool and calm personality but also for the representation he brought to the show.

Frequently questioned on trans issues, Zelah spent time in the house educating fellow housemates, including speaking to Jenny about trans childbirth, explaining "I don't have periods" but "if I were to stop taking testosterone, yeah, I could" get pregnant, and discussing the possibility of his partner Francesca carrying his egg. It was these chats in the house that led to massive conversations in living rooms across the UK. Nowadays, Zelah remains outspoken about trans issues, frequently appearing at prides across the country (usually accompanied by his Big Brother bestie Feyisola!).

4. Frankie Taber comes out as bisexual in Big Brother UK 2026

It's no surprise we're including one of the most talked about moments of the past week! Frankie Taber, a 23-year-old marketing manager from London, made headlines on Tuesday night when he revealed to Big Brother that he was bisexual, saying "I've come on this show to come out, 'cause I'm bisexual and, like, I've been in pain for so long now, probably about a year and a half, two years" in one of the most tear-jerking diary room moments of the series history (someone pass us the tissues!).

The Londoner spoke about the guilt and shame he'd been carrying, saying "I just feel like I've let down a lot of people". Big Brother responded: "Frankie, Big Brother doesn't think you've let anyone down". Well in case he's reading this when he gets out - we're all with you Frankie!

5. The "Jenry" showmance

Big Brother is no stranger to a showmance! And in 2023 we had one of our most fan favourite queer romances blossom in the Big Brother house. Contestants Jordan Sangha and Henry Southan clicked almost immediately.

Starting off as close friends, viewers got to watch their romance blossom with flirting, cuddles, jealousy and eventually many smooches. Affectionately given the shipname "Jenry" by fans, Jordan ended up winning the series with Henry coming second. The pair continued their romance after the show and despite breaking up in 2025, their showmance will forever go down in history.
